    Description

WWII Black Watch, Royal Highland Regiment, Scottish Military
    Tam O’
    Shanter
    (TOS) Bonnet
This is an original WWII Black Watch military bonnet, previously worn but still in fine condition.  It is a textured brown wool with a greenish-brown panel at the back of the cap.  There are two flaps on the back with four grommets for adjusting the fit, and a cotton drawstring that is knotted in a bow.
The bonnet is topped with a brown wool toorie (tassel), is padded and lined in light brown cotton, and has a Black Watch tartan swatch sewn onto the left side.  The inside and outside seams are all tight and intact, except for one seam on the inside as shown in the last photo.
In the back section, to the left of the flap, is a slight fray in the lower edge of the woolen fabric (see photo) but the rest of the wool looks clean, free of nips or holes, and does not appear to be faded.
On the inside of the bonnet, directly behind the tartan swatch, there are two holes where a Regimental badge was once mounted (see photo).  The words "DRUIVEN 760" are hand printed in ink inside the cap and the liner has light soiling from use (see photo). There are some additional letters or numbers inside but they have faded with time and are no longer legible.
Overall, this is a very fine example of a Black Watch WWII Military Bonnet.
