Vintage promotional button hook shoe horn from glamorous
Bond hotels in Hartford, CT - Hotel Bond and Bond Annex.
    Rare collectible in great shape, 4 3/4" high x 1 1/2" wide.
The historic downtown Hotel Bond r
    eigned
as the grandest hotel in Hartford during its heyday in the 1920s and '30s.
    Built
    by hotelier Harry S. Bond
in two stages, the first section, a six-story block,
    was completed in 1913.
A 1921 grand reopening unveiled the second section, an attached 12-story block
    with an
elegant 5,000 sq.ft. penthouse Grand Ballroom. The 1950s saw the decline of The Bond
as it faced competition from the new Statler hotel.
    In 1965 the
    building was sold
    to
    the
Catholic Archdiocese and used as Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing.
