Description
These small complimentary "advertising" soap bars are common give-aways found in hotel and motel rooms around the world and brought back by previous guests as souvenirs. But they're rarely found 58 years after the hotel's demolition! The famous Ryan Hotel was built in 1885 and was well known as a Victorian Gothicarchitectural masterpiece that sat at the corners of 6th and Robert, clearly printed on the soap wrapper!! One of the hotel's unique spaces was a huge second-floor dining room sporting a beautiful stained-glass ceiling. As the back of the wrapping touts: "Popular Priced Coffee Shop ~ 4 Dining Rooms ~ 2 Bars". Exact age is unknown, but based on the fact that "Air Conditioned" is part of their ad, I'm guessing circa 1940's. But sadly, after newer establishments became popular, The Ryan was demolished in 1962, with a parking lot built in its place. "Paved Paradise and put up a parking lot"...sound familiar? Measuring the standard 1 3/8" x 2 1/4", this reminder of a great hotel will make a RARE addition for Ryan collectors!!
