Hey Gillman fans, want to reel in a rare trophy? Long term garage kit collectors will surely remember Kim Ito, A Japanese artisan who released a number of very fine models throughout the early 1990’s.
This is Ito’s Gillman tribute – his very first sculpt – a rare resin model that saw a highly limited production run. Ito originally created the Gillman head as a one-of-a-kind latex ‘mask,’ designed to slip over an animated Godzilla wall plaque called “Mr. Growl.” However, positive fan reaction to Ito’s sculpt prompted him to release the piece as a limited edition trophy plaque of cast resin. This is that piece, cleanly cast in two pieces of solid off-white resin: head and trophy plaque/nameplate.
The Creature’s head itself measures 5 ½” tall x 4” wide x 3” deep, and 7 ¼” tall x 5” wide x 3 ¼” deep mounted to the plaque.
Long out of production, Kim Ito’s Gillman Plaque is now the stuff of legends, and almost impossible to find today. This one’s brand new, ready to render your way. If you missed it before, here’s your chance to capture Kim’s Creature.
