    Description

Seattle World’s Fair 1962 Space Needle Photo - Russ Gibb Collection.
This is an official photo from the 1962 Seattle World's Fair.  The photo is numbered 395785.  It is black & white 8 x 10.  It features high in the air near the top of the 600 feet Space Needle three dare-devils perform their act for many of the Worl's Fair visitors.  The three members of the Berlin Ladder Act are so daring that they scare viewers as well as thrill them.  World's Fair photo N-A 5785mf.
The Century 21 Exposition was a world's fair held April 21, 1962, to October 21, 1962, in Seattle, Washington. Nearly 10 million people attended the fair.
As planned, the exposition left behind a fairground and numerous public buildings and public works; some credit it with revitalizing Seattle's economic and cultural life. The fair saw the construction of the Space Needle and Alweg monorail, as well as several sports venues (Washington State Coliseum, now climate Pledge Arena , currently under redevelopment) and performing arts buildings (the Playhouse, now the Cornish Playhouse, most of which have since been replaced or heavily remodeled. Unlike some other world's fairs of its era, Century 21 made a profit.
Other memorabilia in the photo is only proof it is from Russ Gibb's private collection and NOT included in the sale.
The will of Russ Gibb provided for this item to be sold to benefit the students of the Russ Gibb Digital Media Center - WDHS Studios located in Dearborn High School in Dearborn, Michigan.
